| May 2009 - Big Gets Big Reviews |
 |
The Hollywood Reporter - "Darrin Revitz does a fine job as Susan the
woman who brings out the man in Josh, whether we believe she's in love
with him or not. Revitz finds what's amusing in the part -- "Let's Not
Move Too Fast" -- and sings with a confidence some of the cast members
lack." For the full review please visit this link.
Backstage West - "The captivating Revitz has a sweet voice, which is
well-suited to the lilting "Dancing All the Time." She and Collyer are
terrific in the enchanting duet "Stars." For the full review please

StageSceneLA - "The divine Darrin Revitz’s work in the equally
one-worded Assassins, Twist, and Beaverquest has left no doubt that
this is a musical theater star on the rise. In Big, Revitz gets the
leading role we’ve been waiting to see her in, and one which is a
particularly fine fit for the dazzling redhead. Revitz transitions
affectingly from cynical to sweet, the palpable chemistry she shares
with Collyer leaving no doubt that she’s found the right Mr. Right."

LA Weekly - "[Josh] catches the eye of corporate climber Susan (the
outstanding Darrin Revitz) and finds romance, but he ultimately
discovers that life as a 13-year-old adult is not all that great." LA
Weekly also gave the show a "Go." For the full review please visit this link.
LA Times - "Veteran contemporary musical director Richard Israel draws
particularly appealing performances from Will Collyer in the central
role of man-child Josh Baskin and Darrin Revitz as Susan, the
corporate climber who's seduced by Baskin's refreshing innocence and
lack of guile." For the full review please visit this link. |
| April 2009 - Louis & Keely: Live at The Sahara |
 |

Strip legendary, Louis & Keely is a swingin’ love story based on the
hard-won career of real-life 20th Century music icons Louis Prima and
Keely Smith.

more verve – a new script, a new director, new characters (including
Frank Sinatra) and six new songs. With a “live” jazz band on stage

Musical," opening May 8 at West Coast Ensemble.
This rarely produced musical gem, based on the smash-hit 1987 movie,
bursts onstage in this vibrant, tuneful, funny and touching production
by three of Broadway's modern masters. When frustrated adolescent Josh
Baskin wishes he were big and wakes up the next morning a 30 year-old
man, he discovers there's much more to being an adult than he'd
bargained for - and learns we must all grow up at our own pace, in our
own time. A witty, moving, insightful book and a dazzling, energetic,
heartfelt, contemporary score turn this already classic motion picture
fantasy into an unforgettable theatrical experience.

Darrin is now the voice of the new Asian food-chain Pei Wei. Established in 2001, Pei Wei has over 150 locations in over 15 states, serving wok-seared, contemporary Asian cuisine. |
Darrin is now the voice for Laclede Gas Company in St. Louis, MO. She recorded numerous spots to air on their local radio stations. | Darrin cast to understudy the role of “Dorine,” the saucy maid, in Tartuffe at The Theatre @ Boston Court directed by Josh Chambers. In this cutting edge take, pop art and industrial music lift Molière’s delicious rhymes and indictment of hypocrisy and drops them in our own back yard, the San Fernando Valley. Suburbia becomes the battleground for a spiritual and cultural civil war between art and commerce, charlatan and saint. This Tartuffe upends the expectations of a Comedy of Manners in the pastel washes and smog-stained environs of “The Other Hollywood.” Performances begin February, 2009. |
| July 2008 - Assassins deemed a "solid revival" by Variety |
 |
West Coast Ensemble's solid revival of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's "Assassins" reinforces the value of scaling down a tuner usually staged on the lavish side. The 99-seat presentation necessarily shifts attention from the spectacular parade of American folly to the disturbed marchers within it...Revitz turns on a dime from leafy flower child to satanic Manson handmaiden. | July 2008 - Assassins Backstage West Pick |
 |
Beth Lane and Darrin Revitz have an irresistible chemistry as Sara Jane Moore and Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme, two singularly unhinged women who managed to fail to even scratch the placeholder president, Gerald Ford...And the cast is a sterling example of ensemble work: each performer a standout, yet nobody drawing focus as either a scene stealer or a clunker. | Darrin Shoots CBS Movie of the Week |
Darrin just shot a supporting role in the CBS Movie of the Week "Sweet Nothing in My Ear." She plays the mother of a deaf child, David, who is being fit for a hearing implant. The Hallmark Hall of Fame telepic for CBS is being directed by veteran helmer Joseph Sargent. Pic has Jeff Daniels and Marlee Matlin playing a married couple with a 6-year-old son who lost his hearing at the age of four. Their relationship is strained when Daniels' character, who has his full hearing, begins exploring the idea of cochlear implants for their son. Sargent directed the 1985 deaf-themed Hallmark pic "Love is Never Silent," earning an Emmy for his work
"This movie is more about the deaf community and deaf culture than 'Love Is Never Silent,' which was more of a personal story," Sargent said.
"Sweet Nothing" will explore the fierce debate over cochlear implants, which Sargent said are not universally beloved by the deaf community."
As hearing people, we assume that anyone who's deaf would like to hear," he said. "That's not the case in every instance .... (Some) view it as trying to fix something that doesn't need any repairing."
Helmer is working with many of the key production crew from "Love Is Never Silent" for the new pic, including co-exec producer Marian Rees and producer Anne Hopkins.
Sargent's credits range from episodes of "Lassie," "Gunsmoke" and "The Fugitive" to telepics such as "Something the Lord Made," "Miss Rose White" and "The Karen Carpenter Story." |

| Darrin Cast in The Musical 'Twist' |
 |
Darrin will be next appearing on stage in the West Coast premiere of Twist, a new and more sexual take on Oliver Twist. Darrin will be playing Nancy, the prostitute with the heart of gold. Twist opens December 1 at the Avery Schreiber Theatre in North Hollywood. For more info: www.themusicaltwist.com
Synopsis:
A pop-rock musical based on Oliver Twist, with a Drama Desk 2007-nominated score. By turns outrageous, provocative, and emotionally riveting, Twist weaves Victorian erotica, dark comedy and gender-bending into Dickens's famous tale as it re-imagines Oliver as an attractive young man, still searching for love, but driven by physical desire. Whether submitting to punishment at the Workhouse, or succumbing to the charms of a flirtatious Artful Dodger, Twist is always begging for more. Set in London's late 1800s, Twist's journeys land him in underworld household of prostitutes and pickpockets, ruled over by Fagin, a stunning male dominatrix with a nasty temper.
A unique retelling of a classic, Twist, entertains with exquisite drag, arch wit, a bit of kink and a catchy set of new contemporary songs. Yet the show remains surprisingly true to Oliver Twist, a coming-of-age tale of loneliness, craving, adventure, and finally, redemption. First performed in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival in the fall of 2006, the show went on to New York workshops at the Kraine Theatre and Manhattan Theatre Source. For the MITF production, the author and composers have added new material, expanding on a score that has already been called "instantly memorable".
